About Me

A programmer at heart

Although I have long been fascinated by all manner of science – eventually leading to graduate degrees in physics after the completion of a B.S. in computer science and five years in the Air Force – I am at my best and feel most fulfilled when I am doing hands-on coding and figuring out how to design solutions and implement systems.

A bit of everything

I feel that breadth of experience is my strongest asset. I have worked with several backend languages and technologies including: Python, the Django web framework, and scientific libraries, Linux and Bash shell scripting, SQL, React.js, Node.js, MongoDB, and the Express web framework. I am also comfortable with many higher-level packages and tools in addition to the foundational technologies – HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Git.

Driven to continue learning

I am dedicated to lifelong learning, and routinely complete training/certification courses to stay abreast of the latest technologies and best practices. I recently completed a ten-month sequence of courses offered by Nucamp.co – first, their Full Stack Web + Mobile Development bootcamp covering the MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, and Node.js (MERN) stack (November, 2023 – Graduated with Honors), followed by their Back End, SQL, and DevOps, with Python bootcamp (March, 2024 – Graduated with Honors). Most recently, I earned my AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner credentials.

Driven to share knowledge

One of the many gifts college-level lecturing and freelance textbook writing and copyediting assignments have given me is ample practice communicating complex, technical, and abstract ideas as clearly and succinctly as possible.
